Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson has secured vital funding for the Forster Public Hospital as part of the 2024-25 NSW Budget.
Mrs Thompson said the $180 million Lower Mid North Coast Health Service project merges the Manning Hospital Redevelopment Stage 2 project and Forster-Tuncurry public hospital project.
“Last year’s Labor Budget dealt a blow to the region’s healthcare, slashing $20 million from the Forster Public Hospital,” Mrs Thompson said.
“This project will alleviate pressure on our health facilities, in particular the Manning Hospital, and enhance the quality of care available to our growing community.
Mrs Thompson recently met with Health Minister Ryan Park, along with the Deputy Secretary for NSW Health and representatives from Hunter New England Health to urgently address the funding concerns.
“I made a commitment to the people of the Myall Lakes that I would fight for better health outcomes for our region, and today, we are a step closer to realising that,” Mrs Thompson said.
“This community needs and deserves a public hospital, and I know it will make a big difference to the lives of people living in the Great Lakes area. I will continue to hold the government to account and keep the community updated as this project progresses.”
