Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson MP has today made a plea to the new
Minns Labor Government to retain the Active Kids Vouchers after reports emerged the
new Labor Government were considering scrapping the scheme.
“Thanks to Service NSW, thousands of kids have been able to start or continue playing
sport, attend dance classes, gymnastics and the like, even when challenging
economic times have put pressure on families’ budgets” Mrs Thompson said.
“Many families are really feeling the effects of the rising costs of everyday essentials
such as fuel, groceries, and utilities. It’s important that we continue to support families
and these vouchers were a fantastic way for kids right across NSW to benefit from
sport and other recreational activities. “
Under a re-elected Coalition Government it was proposed parents would have the
option to swap their vouchers.
“Now is the best time to inject new energy into this fantastic program, not scrap it” Mrs
Thompson said.
