Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, has welcomed a $702,600 grant to MidCoast Council to install two new recreational pump-out stations, one at Forster Marina and another along Forster’s Breckenridge Channel.
“These new facilities will make boating safer, more sustainable, and more enjoyable for locals and visitors,” Mrs Thompson said.
“They’re essential for protecting Wallis Lake and keeping our waterways clean.”
Pump-out stations allow boaters to safely dispose of wastewater from their vessels, preventing pollution and protecting marine life.
MidCoast Council’s Executive Manager Public Spaces, Liam Bulley, said the funding announcement was a great outcome for recreational boaters and broader users of our waterways.
“An enhanced boating experience will be delivered for the community by providing new contemporary pump-out facilities at two key locations within Forster” he said.
“The accessible facilities will allow users of Wallis Lake to continue to enjoy their activities in a sustainable way.”
Administered by Transport for NSW, the Boating Infrastructure for Communities Program funds projects that improve access, safety, and environmental outcomes on NSW waterways.
“I commend Mid Coast Council for securing this funding and prioritising projects that benefit both our boating community and our environment,” said Mrs Thompson.
