Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, is delighted to announce the winners of her 2024 Christmas Card Design Competition. This year’s theme, “Merry Myall Lakes,” invited primary school students from across the electorate to share their artistic interpretations of Christmas in the region.
“The creativity and thoughtfulness of our students’ designs were very impressive,” Mrs Thompson said. “Each child brought their own perspective on what makes Christmas in the Myall Lakes so special.”
Mrs Thompson admitted, “It was incredibly hard to choose the winners. Every single entry reflected our beautiful electorate, and I loved seeing the children’s interpretations of a Myall Lakes Christmas.”
The winning design was created by Marisha E from St Joseph’s Primary School, Bulahdelah, whose artwork beautifully captured a beach Christmas with a “sandman” alongside a Christmas palm tree and a beautiful sunset. Marisha’s design will feature on Mrs Thompson’s 2024 Christmas card. As the first-place winner, Marisha receives a framed copy of her artwork, a certificate of recognition, and a $200 VISA gift card.
Second place was awarded to Matilda G from Wingham Brush Public School, whose imaginative entry earned her a $100 VISA gift card. Third place went to Tallow M, also from St Joseph’s Primary School, Bulahdelah, who will receive a $50 VISA gift card.
“I want to thank all the students who participated, every entry brought a smile to my face. The creativity, effort, and imagination were wonderful, and every child who entered should be so proud of their work.”
