MYALL LAKES TO RECEIVE BOOST IN POLICE NUMBERS

Posted May 2nd, 2025

The Manning Great Lakes region is set to benefit from a welcome increase in frontline policing, with two new probationary constables assigned to the Manning Local Area Command following their attestation at the Goulburn Police Academy today.

The recruits were part of Class 365, which saw 302 new officers graduate, including 221 men and 81 women.

Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, welcomed the new officers to the region.

“We are very fortunate to welcome two new probationary constables to the Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command.

“These young officers are an investment in our community safety and will be a welcome addition to the hardworking team already serving our area,” Mrs Thompson said.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their home and community, and increasing police numbers is a step toward addressing rural crime and protecting that sense of security.”

Shadow Minister for Police, Paul Toole shared his welcome to the enthusiastic new recruits who come from diverse backgrounds and professional experience.

“I am proud to welcome the new recruits into the NSW Police Force, who have taken up the incredibly challenging but rewarding responsibility of serving and protecting the people of NSW,” Mr Toole said.

“These probationary constables are helping to strengthen the ranks of our modern and world-class Police Force.

“Policing is like no other profession; it is a selfless career where officers run towards danger to protect us and the wider community rather than the natural instinct to run in the opposite direction.”

After completing eight months of foundational training at the Goulburn Police Academy, the probationary constables will report to their new stations from Monday, 5th May 2025, where they will undertake 12 months of on-the-job training while continuing their studies.
