Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, is encouraging the community to recognise the contributions of women and girls across our region by nominating them for the 2026 NSW Women of the Year Awards.
Mrs Thompson said the Myall Lakes is home to many outstanding women who deserve to be acknowledged for their work.
The annual awards program celebrates women who inspire others through their leadership, strength, generosity, and resilience.
“We all know someone in our local area who goes above and beyond for others, often without seeking any recognition,” Mrs Thompson said.
“These awards are a chance for us to say thank you and to publicly celebrate the impact women and girls are having right here in the Myall Lakes.”
Award categories include:
- NSW Premier’s Woman of Excellence
- NSW Community Hero
- NSW Young Woman of the Year (aged 16–30)
- NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year
- NSW Regional Woman of the Year
- Ones to Watch (girls aged 7–15 who display courage, kindness and leadership)
Nominations are now open and close on Tuesday 9 September 2025. Winners will be announced during NSW Women’s Week in March 2026 at the International Convention Centre in Sydney.
