Member for Myall Lakes Tanya Thompson has been overwhelmingly endorsed by local grassroots members of The Nationals as the party’s candidate for the 2027 NSW State Election.
Nationals members from across the Myall Lakes electorate gathered to reaffirm their confidence in Mrs Thompson, recognising her strong advocacy and commitment to the communities she has proudly represented since being elected in 2023.
Mrs Thompson said she was deeply honoured and humbled by the endorsement.
“I want to sincerely thank our local Nationals members for once again placing their trust in me. It is an incredible privilege to represent the people of Myall Lakes, and I will continue working every day to ensure our communities have a strong voice in the NSW Parliament,” Mrs Thompson said.
“Representing this electorate is something I never take for granted. I have fought hard for our communities over the past three years, and I remain committed to standing up for the people of Myall Lakes and delivering the services, infrastructure and investment our region deserves.”
Despite serving in Opposition, Mrs Thompson said she was proud of what had been achieved through strong community advocacy and persistent pressure on the Minns Labor Government.
“Together with our communities, we’ve fought to save Bobin Public School and Upper Lansdowne Public School, secured the future of important local sporting and community projects through grant funding, advocated for better disaster recovery support following the devastating floods, and continued the fight for better healthcare across our region.”
“I’ve worked tirelessly to hold the Government to account over the delays and uncertainty surrounding Stage 2 of the Manning Base Hospital redevelopment, and the Forster-Tuncurry Urgent Care Clinic, and stood alongside local families, businesses, volunteers and community groups every step of the way.”
Mrs Thompson said one of her biggest priorities remained ensuring regional communities received their fair share of government investment.
“Time and again we’ve seen our region overlooked by this Labor Government. Whether it’s health, roads, emergency services or community infrastructure, Myall Lakes deserves better, and I won’t stop fighting until we get our fair share.”
Mrs Thompson said she remained committed to listening to local communities and ensuring their voices were heard.
“One of the greatest privileges of this role is meeting with people right across our electorate, hearing their concerns and working alongside them to achieve positive outcomes. The people of Myall Lakes are passionate, resilient and fiercely proud of where they live, and they deserve a representative who will always put them first.”
Looking ahead to 2027, Mrs Thompson said she was excited for what lay ahead.
“There is still so much more to do. I will continue standing up for our farmers, small businesses, families, seniors, volunteers and regional communities. I’ll continue fighting for better healthcare, safer roads, stronger emergency services, investment in local infrastructure and the future of our region.”
