THOMPSON CALLS FOR FORSTER AND MANNING VOICES TO JOIN
HEALTH COMMITTEES AMID PLANNING DELAYS
Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, is calling on residents in the Great Lakes and Manning
regions to take a seat at the table by applying for the two newly formed Forster and Manning Local
Health committees.
The recruitment drive comes as the NSW Government continues its consultation phase for the $180
million Lower Mid North Coast Health Service Project, which includes the long-awaited upgrades for
Manning Hospital and urgent care facilities in Forster.
Mrs Thompson said that while she remains critical of the slow pace of progress, it is vital that our
community has a direct say in what services are delivered.
“Our community is tired of seeing more paperwork and reviews while our frontline workers are at
breaking point,” Mrs Thompson said.
“However, we cannot afford to be silent. Joining the Forster or Manning Local Health Committees is a
chance for locals to ensure that the government doesn’t quietly remove important elements from the
original plans for our region.”
The committees will work alongside health staff to share ideas, raise concerns, and provide a voice for
patients and carers in the Forster-Tuncurry and Manning areas.
Residents interested in joining can apply online through the official expression of interest forms for the
Forster Local Health Committee or the Manning Local Health Committee.
“Stronger health starts with local voices, and I encourage anyone with an interest in our community’s
wellbeing to apply. Our community deserves to feel safe knowing that health services are available and
ready to respond locally when they are needed the most”.
