Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, is excited to back Team Taree as they prepare to tackle the iconic 2025 Variety Bash. This weekend, a lovingly restored 1964 EH Holden, our region’s very own “Bash car” will hit the road on its mission to raise funds for Variety, the Children’s Charity.
Local Darren King will be behind the wheel, backed by an impressive lineup of community sponsors, to support children who are sick, disadvantaged, or living with disability.
Mrs Thompson praised the initiative and the spirit behind it. “This is exactly what makes our region so special, people coming together to support a cause bigger than themselves.
“The Team Taree car is a tribute to our local area,” said Mrs Thompson.
“To see so many local businesses backing this is wonderful, and I encourage everyone in our region to get behind Team Taree by making a donation, or cheering them on throughout their trip.”
The Bash car is a community collaboration, featuring the logos and support of: Fastcharge Australia, Taree Auto Electrics, Collision Paint and Panel, Barrier Signs, Jack & Co, Access Fuels, Saxbys, Juzvolter, Ray White Manning Valley, Work Wise, UpBound, Local Pest Experts, Insure More, Demand Detailing, Jax Tyres and Auto, Taree Off Road, Jim Bird Electrical, and MidCoast Council.
Organiser Darren King said, “We didn’t have to beg or twist any arms, that’s the kind of business community we have in Taree. Generous, proud, and eager to give back,” said Mr King.
“Our EH Holden is a moving billboard for the town we love, and it’s helping raise awareness and funds for kids who need our help most.”
This year’s Variety Bash kicks off on Sunday, 18 May in Bathurst and will travel more than 3,000km through Broken Hill, stopping at 8 schools and 2 community groups along the way, before finishing in Newcastle on Saturday, 24 May. Over 80 cars and 254 participants will take part in the journey, delivering joy and much-needed grants and resources to children and communities across NSW.
