Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson has today welcomed the official opening of Taree’s Iron Arena, describing it as a game-changer for the community.
“This is fantastic news for Taree and the broader region and it has certainly been long-awaited.
“I want to acknowledge the advocacy of former Myall Lakes MP Stephen Bromhead, and the former Federal Member for Lyne, the Hon Dr David Gillespie, who both worked tirelessly to secure the funding necessary to get this project off the ground. It’s wonderful to see that hard work now realised.
“This $12.9 million development is a major investment in the sporting and economic future of our region.
“The Iron Arena will attract high-profile sporting events at the local, regional, state and national levels including basketball, futsal, volleyball and indoor hockey bringing athletes, supporters and visitors into our community.
“Beyond sport, the venue will also serve as an excellent space for trade shows, exhibitions and concerts, further boosting local activity and opportunity.
“I’d like to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to making this incredible project a reality,” Mrs Thompson said.
