Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, has announced $30,000 in funding for the Taree Torpedoes Swim Club through the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership Program.
Mrs Thompson said the grant will be used to replace the indoor pool starting platforms at the Manning Aquatic Leisure Centre.
“Modern starting platforms are essential for the club to keep supporting swimming talent in our region,” Mrs Thompson said.
“Not only do they help competitive swimmers achieve their best times, but they also encourage swimmers of all ages to get involved in the sport safely and confidently.”
Ian Smith, Treasurer of the Taree Torpedoes Swim Club, welcomed the funding, “Our current starting platforms have served us as a club and the community well over the years, but they no longer meet competition standards and can be challenging for swimmers.
“These new platforms will significantly enhance the training and competition experience for all our athletes.”
This funding will support the club’s ongoing commitment to providing a high-quality sporting environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities at the Manning Aquatic Leisure Centre, working closely with Belgravia management and Midcoast Council to deliver this project.
