Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has announced that Manning Valley Hockey Association will receive $265,498 in funding from the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants Program.
The funding, secured through the Clubgrants Category 3 Fund, will be used to upgrade the field lighting at Allan Taylor Field, replacing outdated timber lighting poles and inefficient halogen lights with modern, energy-efficient LED systems.
Mrs Thompson welcomed the funding, “This grant is a fantastic investment in the future of Manning Valley Hockey Association.
“Not only will the upgraded lighting improve playing conditions and make the field safer, but it will also allow the club to host more championships and major events, bringing visitors and economic benefits to our region,” Mrs Thompson said.
Manning Valley Hockey Association Treasurer, Adam Scarff, said the funding will make a huge difference to both the club and its members.
“Our current timber lighting poles have been standing for over 30 years, and the lighting is no longer up to specification.
“This upgrade will ensure players have better visibility, making evening games and training sessions more accessible and enjoyable,” Mr Scarff said.
“The switch to LED lighting will also reduce our operating costs, which means we can keep our membership fees affordable. We haven’t had a fee increase since 2017, and this grant will help us maintain that affordability for local players.”
“This investment ensures that hockey continues to thrive in our region, with better facilities and opportunities for players of all levels. I look forward to seeing the benefits this project brings to the local sporting community,” Mrs Thompson said.
The Manning Valley Hockey Association joins Mid North Coast Community College who will also benefit from this round of funding, which reinvests profits from the state’s registered clubs back into community projects.
