Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has welcomed the inclusion of Manning Base Hospital in the latest phase of the NSW Government’s safe staffing ratios rollout – an important milestone for both patient care and support for hardworking healthcare staff.
“This is fantastic news for Manning Base Hospital and for our local community,” Mrs Thompson said.
“Patients will benefit from safer, more timely care, and our dedicated emergency department staff will gain the vital support they need to continue providing high-quality care.”
Recruitment has now commenced to meet the safe staffing quota at Manning Base Hospital, ensuring the appropriate number of nurses are available for every shift.
“Regional hospitals like Manning face unique challenges and ensuring safe staffing levels is essential for both patients and staff,” Mrs Thompson said.
“This rollout represents real progress, and it’s encouraging to see our nurses being given the recognition and resources they deserve.”
Mrs Thompson also acknowledged the NSW Government and the Minister for Regional Health for recognising the importance of including Manning Base Hospital in this critical rollout.
Across regional NSW, the next phase of the rollout will see additional nursing staff employed to strengthen care and support in hospitals throughout local communities.
