Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has welcomed news that the reconstruction of The Bight Bridge in Wingham is now eligible for early funding from
the NSW Reconstruction Authority.
The funding will allow MidCoast Council to begin the design phase for a replacement bridge, marking an important milestone in the community’s recovery following the May 2025 flood.
“It is fantastic to see this early funding secured so that MidCoast Council can begin the design and reconstruction of The Bight Bridge,” Mrs Thompson said.
“This is the news residents and businesses in Wingham and Tinonee have been waiting for. It is an important step forward in restoring a key connection for our community.”
“The Bight Bridge is vital for locals, farmers, and businesses who rely on it every day, and seeing progress towards rebuilding it gives people confidence that recovery is moving in the right direction.”
Mrs Thompson said she would continue working closely with MidCoast Council and the NSW Government to ensure the community remains informed as the design and planning process progresses.
