MYALL LAKES TO RECEIVE BOOST IN POLICE NUMBERS

Posted December 9th, 2024

Two new probationary constables will commence duties in the Myall Lakes after new officers attested at a formal ceremony at the Goulburn Police Academy on Friday, 6 December.

Class 364 comprised of 298 new probationary constables including 218 men and 30 women.

Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson welcomed the new police officers to the Mid-Coast.

“Increasing police numbers in our region is essential as we face rising challenges with regional crime.

“Our community deserves to feel secure in their homes, on their streets, and in their daily lives.

“These new officers will be a welcome addition and we want both of our new officers to know that their efforts are deeply appreciated,” said Mrs Thompson.

Shadow Minister for Police Paul Toole shared his welcome to the enthusiastic new recruits who come from diverse backgrounds and professional experience.

“I am proud to welcome the new recruits into the NSW Police Force, who have taken up the incredibly challenging but rewarding responsibility of serving and protecting the people of NSW,” Mr Toole said.

“These probationary constables are helping strengthen the ranks of our modern and world-class Police Force.

“Policing is like no other profession; it is a selfless career where officers run towards danger to protect us and the wider community rather than the natural instinct to run in the opposite direction.

The recruits have completed eight months of foundational training and those allocated to commands within the Mid-Coast will report to their stations from Monday 9 December to complete 12 months’ on-the-job training and study by distance education with Charles Sturt University.
