Member for Myall Lakes Tanya Thompson said the data released in the latest Bureau of Health Information (BHI) report was incredibly concerning.
“With only 44 per cent of patients presenting at the Manning Base Hospital being treated on time, a decrease of more than 12 per cent on the year prior, it’s clear the Myall Lakes health system is in crisis.”
“On top of this, only 60 per cent of patients transferred from paramedics to the emergency department begin treatment within 30 minutes – eight minutes longer than the state median. This can be the difference between life and death.
“The flow-on effect is huge. While patients wait to be seen in ramped ambulances, other members of our community are kept waiting for ambulances in their time of need.”
“The Manning Base Hospital emergency department is going backward under the watch of this city-centric Labor Government, and it is our community and our remarkable frontline health staff who suffer the consequences.”
“Chris Minns and the Health Minister must urgently provide Manning Base Hospital with the resources they desperately need and ensure that people in our community have access to the care they need and deserve.”
