Mid North Coast Water Polo have been successful in securing a $2,732.42 grant under the NSW Local Sport Grant Program for new player uniforms and training equipment, Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes announced.
Mrs Thompson visited the water polo team at the Manning Aquatic Leisure Centre to personally deliver the exciting news to the Mid North Coast Triton team members.
“Mid North Coast Water Polo will use this grant funding to attract new, younger members to the sport, supporting junior player development,” said Mrs Thompson.
“It’s great to hear that that this funding will help build a stronger, more inclusive water polo sporting community within the Myall Lakes.”
Kylie Watson, secretary of Mid North Coast Water Polo said, “With this funding we are hoping to grow the younger members of the club with the purchase of ‘flipper ball’ equipment.
“Flipper ball is a fun game based on water polo, played in the shallow end of the pool.
“With the introduction of new younger members to water polo, we are also hoping the parents will come along and participate in the sport either by playing or helping out.
“We really value family participation throughout the club,” said Mrs Watson.
