MID COAST FLYERS SOAR WITH $5,000 GRANT FOR PARAGLIDING LAUNCH SITE

Posted January 13th, 2025

The Mid North Coast Flyers Inc. have completed an exciting upgrade to the Khatabundah Paragliding and Hang Glider launch site, thanks to a $5,000 grant through the 2023 Community Building Partnership program.

The project involved the installation of 148 square meters of artificial grass over a stabilising geofabric base, creating a safer and more sustainable launch surface.

Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson said, “This is a fantastic project that will benefit both our local flying community and visiting enthusiasts.

“The artificial grass provides a safer and more reliable launch surface while reducing the environmental impact.”

Stephen Cross, Project Manager for the Mid North Coast Flyers Inc. said, “The artificial grass greatly improves safety, especially during adverse weather conditions, and ensures the site remains accessible for years to come.

“We’re incredibly thankful to Tanya Thompson and the NSW Government for supporting our grant.”

The upgraded Khatabundah launch site is now ready to welcome both local and visiting pilots.
