Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, is advising the community that Martin Bridge in Taree has now reopened exclusively for emergency services personnel and medical replacement staff.
“This limited reopening will assist our emergency response and essential health services so they can continue operating without disruption,” said Mrs Thompson.
“It is not a general reopening. I want to make it very clear that Martin Bridge remains closed to the public.”
The decision to partially reopen the bridge has been made in consultation with emergency authorities and health networks to enable the rotation and replacement of critical staff who have been working around the clock under immense pressure.
“This access is solely for emergency vehicles and replacement health workers who are relieving exhausted colleagues. This is not a green light for the general public to use the bridge, and we are asking everyone to please respect these restrictions.”
Tanya Thompson acknowledged the extraordinary efforts of emergency personnel and healthcare staff during this period.
“I want to thank every first responder, nurse, doctor, and frontline worker who continues to serve our community during this challenging time.”
The community is urged to remain patient and follow all instructions from emergency services. Any misuse of the reopened access will compromise safety and may delay a full reopening.
