Posted February 5th, 2025

Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has announced the recipients of the 2024-25 Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program, aimed at providing life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to local sports and community facilities.

Seven clubs and organisations across the region have been successful in securing funding.

“These grants are a game-changer for our local sporting and community groups,” Mrs Thompson said.

“By providing access to defibrillators, we’re helping to create safer environments where people of all ages can enjoy sport and recreation with peace of mind.”

“Every second counts in a cardiac emergency. Having defibrillators readily available at these locations could be the difference between life and death.”

The successful grant recipients in Myall Lakes are:

  • Taree Old Bar Surf Life Saving Club Ltd
  • Taree Wingham Clay Target Club
  • Wingham Indoor Sports Pty Ltd
  • Taree City Rugby League Football Club Incorporated
  • Forster Bowling Club Limited
  • Surf Life Saving Lower North Coast Branch Incorporated
  • Killabakh Community Association Incorporated

Mrs Thompson encouraged those who missed out this round to express interest in the 2025-26 grants. “I encourage all eligible groups to apply in future rounds so we can continue expanding access to this essential equipment,” she said.
