LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD PROGRAM EMPOWERS WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SPORT

Posted October 27th, 2023

The Level the Playing Field Program is an initiative aimed at transforming sports and recreation facilities in New South Wales. With a $30 million commitment from the NSW Government, the program aims to promote inclusivity and accessibility for women and girls in sports across the region.

This program is a significant step toward levelling the playing field, providing funding for the creation and enhancement of sports facilities, amenities, and sporting fields. The funding will also support the installation of new and upgraded lighting, promoting a safe and inclusive environment for women and girls to train and compete.

Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating, “This program is an opportunity to invest in the future of women and girls in sports, promoting equality, diversity, and sustainability.”

The program offers funding for the capital costs of projects, requiring applicants to handle project administration costs, non-fixed or movable equipment, and the ongoing operation of the facility. Applicants can apply for grants between $200,000 and $2,000,000.

Eligible applicants include local government authorities, sporting organisations, community-based not-for-profit clubs, and private enterprises.

Eligible projects include the construction or upgrade of sports fields, courts, or playing areas that promote training, competition, and utilisation for women and girls.

Applications close 1.00pm Thursday 30 November 2023.
