GREAT SKATES ROLLS AWAY WITH $7,900.27 FOR EQUIPMENT

Great Skates Roller Derby League have been successful in securing a $7,900.27 grant under the NSW Local Sport Grant Program for a skate equipment library, Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson announced this week.

Mrs Thompson visited the derby league, at the Y Great Lakes to personally deliver the exciting news to league members.

“Great Lakes Roller Derby League will use this funding to establish a skate equipment library that will provide a range of gear that individuals can borrow,” said Mrs Thompson.

“The library will make roller derby more accessible in the Great Lakes Manning region by reducing financial barriers for current and new participants.”

Adrienne Greene, public officer for Great Skates Roller Derby League said, “This grant will allow us to offer access to essential gear without upfront costs – making roller derby more inclusive and accessible to all.

“With this project, Great Skates Roller Derby League hopes to encourage more people to join the roller derby community, ensuring that financial limitations do not prevent anyone from participating.”
