Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, is urging residents across the region to take care and stay informed as severe weather and flooding continue to impact communities.
Mrs Thompson said evacuation centres have been established in Wingham, Manning Point and Taree to support residents who are forced to leave their homes due to rising floodwaters.
Current evacuation centres in the Myall Lakes region include:
Wingham RSL – 28-38 Bent Street, Wingham
Manning Point Bowling Club – 20/22 Manning Street, Manning Point
Club Taree – 121 Wingham Road, Taree
“These centres are here to support anyone who needs a safe place to go,” Mrs Thompson said.
“Please don’t take any risks, if you are told to evacuate, leave immediately and make your way to one of these safe locations.
“I want to thank our local emergency services, SES crews and volunteers who are working around the clock to keep us safe.”
Residents are encouraged to stay up to date by downloading the Hazards Near Me app and following NSW SES on social media.
