COMMUNITY SAFETY FORUM

Posted March 25th, 2025

Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, is inviting residents of Old Bar and surrounding areas to attend a Community Safety Forum on Wednesday, 16 April 2025, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Old Bar Surf Life Saving Club.

The event provides an opportunity for community members to voice their concerns, discuss local crime trends, and explore collaborative solutions to improve safety.

“This forum is about bringing our community together to discuss safety concerns openly,” said Mrs Thompson.

“We want to hear from residents about the challenges they are facing and work towards practical solutions with the police and government.

“This is not a political event – it’s about ensuring our communities feel safe and supported.”

Recent reports of youth crime and property offences in the region have heightened concerns among residents. With initiatives such as Operation Soteria launching across regional NSW, the forum will offer a platform to discuss proactive measures being taken to address crime and safety.

“The safety of our community is a top priority, and I encourage residents to come along, ask questions, and be part of the conversation,” Mrs Thompson added.

“No one should feel unsafe in their own home, and we need to work together to ensure our region remains a secure place for families and businesses.”
