Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, has congratulated Chatham High School’s Jodie Bird on receiving the prestigious Secretary’s Award for Excellent Service at the 2025 NSW Public Education Awards.
Mrs Thompson said, “We are so fortunate to have someone like Jodie in our region, she gives so much of herself to others, and this recognition is so well deserved.”
Jodie was recognised at Sydney Town Hall this week for the care and support she gives to the students, families, and Chatham High School community.
Although unable to attend the ceremony due to illness, Jodie’s outstanding contributions were acknowledged in front of more than 700 attendees during the official event, held as part of Public Education Week.
“Jodie Bird truly represents the heart of public education,” Mrs Thompson said.
“It’s not just what Jodie does during school hours, it’s everything she does behind the scenes to make sure no student slips through the cracks.”
The Secretary’s Award for Excellent Service honours school administrative and support staff who go above and beyond to enhance student outcomes and create inclusive, supportive learning environments.
