Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has confirmed that a Black Hawk helicopter has landed in Taree this afternoon, as emergency services across the region escalate response operations to support flood-affected communities.
Mrs Thompson praised the efforts of all frontline responders and confirmed that more support is being deployed following discussions with the NSW Premier.
“I’ve been on the ground at the Taree Operations Centre today, assisting wherever I can and making sure our community’s needs are being heard,” said Mrs Thompson.
“I asked for every available resource to be thrown at us, and more help is on the way.”
The Premier has confirmed a significant aerial response is underway, with rescue helicopters from the ADF, Surf Life Saving NSW, the RFS, and PolAir supporting operations. Additional aircraft are delivering supplies, assisting with animal welfare, and inspecting critical infrastructure. Night-capable helicopters from PolAir, the ADF, and the RFS are also in action to ensure continued support after dark.
Mrs Thompson added, “Today’s arrival of the Black Hawk shows just how serious and committed the emergency response is.
“The ADF is now actively assisting with rescues, resupply operations and broader support across the region.
“Every single crew is on the ground or in the air helping, this is a full-force response.”
Mrs Thompson urged residents to stay vigilant and to continue reporting any urgent needs.
