Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, is inviting primary school students across the electorate to get creative and take part in her Christmas Card Design Competition. This year, the theme is “Merry Myall Lakes,” giving young artists the chance to show what Christmas means to them and how they celebrate the festive season.
“In the Myall Lakes, we each have our own unique ways of celebrating Christmas, whether it’s enjoying a game of cricket, or breakfast on the beach. I can’t wait to see how the kids express these traditions in their designs. I’m excited to see how the kids bring this to life in their designs.”
The competition is open to all primary school students living in the Myall Lakes electorate, and the winning design will be featured on Mrs Thompson’s 2024 Christmas card. The winner will also receive a framed copy of their design, a certificate of recognition, and a $200 VISA gift card. The second-place winner will receive a $100 VISA gift card, while the third-place winner will receive a $50 VISA gift card.
“I’m always blown away by the creativity of our local kids. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to share their unique Myall Lakes Christmas celebrations with the entire community,” Mrs Thompson added.

Entries must be submitted by 5:00pm, November 15th, 2024, either physically at Mrs Thompson’s Tuncurry office or via post. Judging will be based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and artistic quality. The winner will be announced on Monday, December 2nd.
