$330,000 BOOST FOR MYALL LAKES SURF CLUBS

Posted April 4th, 2025

Tanya Thompson, Member for Myall Lakes, is pleased to announce that four local Surf Life Saving Clubs have secured a total of $330,255 in funding through the NSW Government’s Surf Club Facility Program 2024-25. This investment will improve lifesaving infrastructure, accessibility, and will strengthen community engagement across the region.

Mrs Thompson said this funding is a huge win for our local surf clubs.

“It allows our volunteers to have the facilities they need to continue their lifesaving work while also making these spaces more inclusive and sustainable for the broader community.”

The successful recipients in the Myall Lakes include:

Category 1 (project cost under $100,000):

  • Forster Surf Lifesaving Club: $74,597 for fitting out the training room and first aid rooms in the new clubhouse.
  • Taree Old Bar Surf Life Saving Club: $48,267 for Club sustainability and safety upgrades.

Category 2 (project cost between $100,000 and $500,000):

  • Cape Hawke Surf Lifesaving Club: $92,849 for the expansion of the lifesaving gear and equipment storage room and a new gymnasium.
  • Pacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club: $114,542 for clubhouse roof repairs, deck works to enclose and improve accessibility, rectification of water damage in the gym area, and fixing plumbing issues in male amenities.

“Our surf lifesavers do an incredible job keeping our beaches safe, and I am so happy to see four of the five Surf Clubs in our electorate receiving such important funding,” Mrs Thompson said.

“I congratulate the clubs on their successful applications and look forward to seeing these projects come to life.”

The Surf Club Facility Program, administered by the NSW Office of Sport, aims to remove barriers to participation, increase community use of club facilities, and improve environmental and financial sustainability. This year, the program has allocated $5.42 million across 38 successful projects statewide.

Projects funded through this round are expected to be completed by March 2026 for Category 1 and March 2027 for Category 2.
